Gripe, Navidad & Orient Express

Con esta gripe viru­lenta que me ha dejado tirada cuan tra­pi­llo, he deci­dido pasar este día de Navi­dad viendo el docu­men­tal David Suchet en el Orient Express. David es cono­cido por inter­pre­tar al mari­sa­bi­di­llo detec­tive Her­cu­les Poi­rot creado por la genial escri­tora Agatha Chris­tie. Y para cele­brar una nueva adap­ta­ción de su obra, Ase­si­nato en el Orient Express, la cadena de tele­vi­sión bri­tá­nica ITV ni corta ni pere­zosa va y nos manda al bueno de David a Estam­bul a bordo del para­digma del lujo con­ver­tido en tren.

El docu­men­tal tam­poco os va a cam­biar sus­tan­cial­mente la exis­ten­cia, pero es la clá­sica golo­sina de pereza vaca­cio­nal mez­clada con anti­gri­pa­les y aspi­rina efer­ves­cente. Bási­ca­mente una se pasa la hora entera con­tem­plando a David en pijama de seda venga a pim­plarse cock­tails rodeado de esplén­dida mar­que­te­ría art decó, con­tando un poco medio achis­pa­di­llo his­to­rie­tas de Josep­hine Baker. Todo un reco­pi­la­to­rio roman­ti­coide de un viaje campo a tra­vés com­bi­nado con la ele­gan­cia y la exqui­si­tez de los años veinte… en resu­mi­das cuen­tas, un sueño hecho docurrealidad.

Due to the flu, I’m going to spent the Christ­mas Day wat­ching ITV’s char­ming docu­men­tary, David Suchet on the Orient Express. David is, of course, best known for pla­ying Agatha Chris­tie’s Poi­rot, and to cele­brate the new adap­ta­tion the bright sparks at ITV sent him off on a jaunt to Istan­bul aboard the luxu­rious train.

It isn’t a par­ti­cu­larly hard-hitting doc, but as holi­day eye candy, it doesn’t get much bet­ter. It is basi­ca­lly one hour of David lolling around in his silk paja­mas, drin­king cock­tails, surroun­ded by splen­did art deco mar­que­try, reco­un­ting tales about Josep­hine Baker. All the romance of a cross-country train jour­ney, com­bi­ned with the ele­gance and style of the 1920s… DREAMY.
